Unlocator sells two tools under one account: a VPN for encrypting traffic and a Smart DNS service for streaming on devices that cannot run a VPN app, such as smart TVs, consoles and media players. A third option, Unlocator Hybrid, is described on the homepage as blending "VPN encryption with Smart DNS performance". The about page says Unlocator is a registered trademark of Unlocator ApS, "a Danish IT company located in the outskirts of the beautiful city of Copenhagen", and gives an address at Kaningårdsvej 11, 2830 Virum, Denmark, with the company registration number CVR 44498383. The homepage footer carries "Copyright 2026 - Unlocator ApS".

On who can buy it, the homepage offers a free trial ("Get 7 Days Free") and sign-up through the site, and it has a "We Accept" block for payment methods and a "Get the Apps" block, but the payment methods and store badges are not named on the page. The homepage shows no prices and no currency. It does not say whether any country is excluded. The about page says the company has "teams scattered around the globe" without naming where. VPN apps are listed for Amazon, Android, Huawei, iOS, Mac, Windows and Vision Pro, with a manual setup option, and a platform picker reads "All platforms (58)", while another section says the service "Works on 50+ platforms".

Logging, audit and the company

The site does not name an independent audit of its logging policy. The homepage also does not make a no-logs statement. It describes the VPN in terms of encryption: "256-bit level encryption", "Bank-Level Encryption", and a promise that users can "sign in, bank, and shop with confidence" on public Wi-Fi. None of that says what Unlocator records about connections, DNS queries or payments. A Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Cookie Policy are linked in the footer, but the homepage does not summarize them, so a reader who cares about logging has to read the policy itself before subscribing. That matters for Smart DNS users in particular, because the site presents Smart DNS as a streaming tool and describes encryption only for the VPN and Hybrid options.

On ownership and jurisdiction, the about page gives a named company, a Danish street address and a registration number. It does not name owners or a parent company. The site does not discuss how it handles legal requests or what Danish law requires of it.

VPN features and Smart DNS

The VPN uses the WireGuard and OpenVPN protocols, according to the homepage's "Advanced Protocol" line. The listed features are one-click connection, connect on startup, favorite locations, automatic protection on hotel, airport and café Wi-Fi, and "Unlimited Bandwidth", with the note "There is no bandwidth allowance". The menu also links a "Private IP" page, which it pitches as a way to "Protect Your Privacy Online with a Private IP". The homepage does not mention a kill switch, split tunneling, multi-hop, ad blocking or port forwarding, and it does not publish a server count or a list of VPN countries.

Smart DNS is the part that fits this category. The homepage describes it as "no apps, no speed loss; just quick starts and stable playback on TVs, consoles, and more for services worldwide". The DNS setup section of the footer lists guides for gaming consoles, media players, operating systems, phones and tablets, routers and smart TVs, and the menu has a "Channels & Devices" page and a "When to use what?" comparison of VPN and Smart DNS. The homepage does not name the streaming services that Smart DNS or the VPN work with; the menu points to the Channels & Devices page for that, and any such list is the provider's claim. The site does not address torrenting.

Devices, trial, refund and support

The device terms are stated clearly: "Use Unlocator VPN on up to 10 devices in your household. At the same time, enjoy Smart DNS on all your streaming devices with no limits and no bandwidth restrictions." So the VPN has a cap of 10 devices, and Smart DNS has none.

The trial is 7 days, advertised with "Get 7 Days Free" and "Start Your Free Trial" buttons. The homepage does not say whether the trial needs a payment method, what it includes, or what happens when it ends. Prices are the main gap. The homepage links a Pricing page but shows no plan, term, price, currency or renewal price itself. One of the customer reviews on the homepage mentions "an unwanted renewal" that support refunded quickly, which confirms that subscriptions renew, but not at what price.

Support is linked from the menu. The homepage quotes customer reviews praising support, including one saying a reply came "within 5 minutes" of an email sent in the middle of the night, and says the service has "A 4.7 Trustpilot rating". Those are the provider's selection and figure. The site does not state support hours or channels on the homepage.

What remains open, and who it suits

Unlocator's strengths for smart TV and console users are concrete. Smart DNS covers devices a VPN app cannot reach, with no device limit; the VPN covers up to 10 devices; there is a 7-day trial, a 30-day no-questions refund, WireGuard and OpenVPN, and a named Danish company with an address and registration number.

What the homepage does not settle: prices, currency, plan lengths and renewal cost; which payment methods are accepted; the logging terms, with no no-logs statement and no named audit; the number and location of VPN servers; any kill switch; and a dated list of the streaming services Smart DNS is meant for.

It suits a household that streams on TVs, consoles and media players and wants one account that covers both those devices and phones and laptops, and that is willing to check the pricing page and privacy policy before signing up. It suits less well anyone who picks a VPN on published logging terms or who wants to compare prices before starting a trial.
