Gaming, file sharing and big downloads all punish a slow tunnel, and each adds a demand of its own. For games, what counts is ping to nearby servers, split tunneling and protection for your home address. For torrenting, it is whether P2P is allowed on every server or a marked few, whether port forwarding is offered, and whether the kill switch holds when the connection drops. For raw speed, look at the protocol (WireGuard or the provider's own fast variant) and any port speeds the provider publishes. Treat every fastest-VPN claim as marketing until a figure backs it.
